Vampire Werewolf Fairies Game Review

Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, four NEW and somewhat less loved character types, Vampires, Werewolves, Fairies, and Witches, battle for control! But this is no ordinary battle! Vampires will become Werewolves (wait…is such a thing possible?), Werewolves will become Fairies (as silly as that sounds), and Witches pretty much become whatever they want because you just know there is a spell that allows them to do it. Cheaters… Continue reading

Zombie Ninja Pirates Game Review

Zombie Ninja Pirates is a fun little game which is most certainly in the “beer and pretzels” category or, for our little geeks, “apple juice and graham crackers”. It’s meant to be a “flash in the pan” type of game where you plop it out on the table, play a few games, and then move on without having to exercise a large percentage of our brain. In this, the game does exceedingly well. Continue reading

Outstanding Parents Guide to Tabletop Miniature Wargaming

There is more to our geek hobby than board games. Oh, so very, very much more. There are card games, dice games, live action games, role playing games, and the list goes on and on. One of the most visually stunning games of our collective hobby is also one of the most expensive and, some would argue, the most intimidating. I speak of the fantastic and always popular tabletop miniature wargaming. Continue reading

Playskool Heroes Transformers Rescue Bots Toy Review

Little ones will enjoy these toys for several reasons. First, moving parts always intrigue children. With the vehicle mode, geeklings will be able to roll and crash their way to discovery. Second, with the robot mode, they will enjoy playacting and storytelling. If you relish your own memories of the Transformers, these toys are a simple way to pass on your Cybertronian love. Shake Out! Game Review

Roll the dice and take a chance! Shake Out! is all about balancing risk vs. reward. Do it right and there is no stopping you, but don’t get too cocky. Even if you claim a card, another opponent can snatch it from you with just a few more points! To play this game right, you’ll have to push your own limits to ensure you get the cards you need, playing both defensively and offensively. Come up short, and you’ll be left far, far behind! Continue reading

Six Game Review

At first, it looks to be a simple exercise in tedious hexagon placement again and again until a simple shape is created. A ho-hum affair with little to provide in the way of entertainment or challenge. A hexagon here, a hexagon there, and you are suddenly very aware that you are close to loosing! How did this happen? Without even a hint of change, the game turns into a battle of wits as you attempt to out maneuver and out play your opponent in an ever shifting game where you are ahead one moment and then greatly behind the next! Continue reading

Dance Until You Can Dance No More!

I spend a ridiculously amount of time on the computer. I can’t help it; it’s my job. Whenever I find something that I really enjoy, and is little geek friendly, I make it a point to show it to my children so they can enjoy it, too. More times than not, this gets me in trouble with my goodly wife as my sense of humor is borderline insane. However, my little geeks love it. In the end, the cheers and laughter of my children outweight the eye rolling of my wife. Sorry, babe… Continue reading

Geek Life On a Budget

The hobby of board games, card games, dice games, and the mixing of all three is not a cheap one. In fact, you can expect to pay at least $20 for a game and from there the price skyrockets. It is not unheard of for games to be as expensive as over $100. That might seem like a great deal of money (and in all honesty, it really is), but for those who are passionate about the hobby, the money is well spent. Continue reading
