Gooey Louie Game Review

My wife and I did a quick count. We determined we utter the phrase, “get your fingers out of your nose” no less than 10 times a day to our little geeks. Of course, we are only counting the times that we catch them in the act. Nose picking is considered to be rude in many cultures, dirty, and for the young, a means to obtain a tasty treat. Regardless of how you feel about it, we all do it. It was only a matter of time before a game designer looked at society and said, “hey, I can make some money here.” Continue reading

Giving the order to advance, one and then both armies slowly move towards one another. On this day, many will fight and die for a cause they believe in. FOR BLOOD AND HONOR! Continue reading

Tower Game Review

The ruler of the desert kingdom looked down on the map and frowned. Surrounding his small country were well-traveled regions, and yet, his small domain remained unnoticed. No more, he vowed, and he called for his underlings to attend him. He decreed that a royal invite would be sent out to all the land calling for skilled craftsman to build the tallest tower the world has ever seen! Having such a tower would certainly bring wealth to his kingdom and the craftsman who built it! Continue reading

Wordner Game Review

Have you ever tried to finish another person’s sentence for them? For example, I might say, “Boy, am I hungry! Let’s go get some-” and then you interrupt by blurting out, “FISH TACOS!” In this example, you’d be correct. I love me some fish tacos, but most of the time the phrasing that is forcefully injected into another person’s incomplete thought is seldom accurate. This often has hilarious consequences for all within earshot. Continue reading

Little Bighorn Rummy Game Review (prepublished version)

The Battle of Little Bighorn, which took place on June 25th and June 26th 1876, between the forces of the 7th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army and the combined forces of Lakota, Northern Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes, has been studied extensively by historians. An overwhelming victory for the Native Americans, led by war leaders Crazy Horse and Chief Gall, and inspired by the visions of Sitting Bull, continues to live on through stories and scholarly debate to this day. Continue reading

Free the Box Game Review

In this game, you need to stay one step ahead of your opponent’s at all times. Oddly enough, that means being behind them. This is a game about capturing and outrunning, but be careful how far you go. It’s not enough to not be captured, as victory only goes to the player who captures their opponents or can move the most deftly around the neighborhood. Hide if you must, but know that victory is only possible if you keep moving, ducking, and dodging. Continue reading

Online Tool Estimates Your Board Game Collection Value, Terrifies

Collecting and buying board games is a bit like getting your first tattoo. You don’t know what you are doing, odds are you’ll invest in something silly, and you’ll feel obligated to show it off.
