Cyrus

Editor in Chief, Owner/Operator, Board Game Fanatic, Father of Three, and Nice Guy, Cyrus has always enjoyed board, card, miniature, role playing, and video games, but didn't get back into the hobby seriously until early 2000. Once he did, however, he was hooked. He now plays board games with anyone and everyone he can, but enjoys playing with his children the most. Video games continue to be of real interest, but not as much as dice and little miniatures. As he carefully navigates the ins and outs of parenting, he does his very best to bestow what wisdom he has and help nurture his children's young minds. It is his hope and ambition to raise three strong, honorable men who will one day go on to do great things and buy their Mom and Dad a lobster dinner. Cyrus goes by the handle fathergeek on Board Game Geek.

I was asked the other day what it meant to be a “geek”. This fellow co-worker of mine began to answer her own question by asking other questions which were, “do you wear silly shirts, awkward around the opposite sex,…

Cookie Fu: Grandmaster’s Return Game Review

I really like this dice game. It is fast, easy to teach, and easy to play. You can sit down with a friend or up to 5 other people and have several battles in less than an hour. Not many games provide speed and entertainment with a high level of customization. Cookie Fu delivers with a solid punch of awesomeness!

Rattlesnake Game Review

Reverse Charades Game Review

Reverse Charades does an outstanding job of keeping everyone entertained and engaged. I've played Charades before and enjoyed it, but Reverse Charades provides an entirely different and more enjoyable experience.

Sorry! Sliders Game Review

My boys and I love this game. Sliding the game pawns down the alley and having them smack the others is a very satisfying. But there is so much more to this game then simply sliding a pawn. So much more.

Top 5 Reasons to Start a Family Game Night

Every family is busy, some much more than others. This is because families are comprised of individuals with lives of their own that sometimes, if you are lucky, intersect at the family dinner table or occasionally in the line to use the upstairs bathroom. A family game night is what you are missing, and need.

Bridging the Sibling Generation Gap

A mother geek of two asks Father Geek how she can get her two kids to the table to play games. Different ages and different genders appear to be an issue, but in this case, appearances are deceiving.
