You have toiled for years researching, exploring long forgotten knowledge, and poking around in places no sane person would consider wise. But you are no normal sane person. You have a dream and it will soon become true. Tonight, the ultimate weapon will be built and it's yours to command. Little do you know that several other "sane" individuals have made the same plans this evening.
Your duty and honor are without question. What remains to be tested is your loyalty. The Shogun is dead and old feuds and past insults are causing strife between the clans. A successor must be named and it's up to you, the clan leader, to ensure that justice is done to right old wrongs and claim the title of the next Shogun.

Whatever caused the dead to rise and hunt the living swept over the world like a prairie fire. In less than a week, whole cities were abandoned except by those who could not leave or were already part of the undead. What remains of the living hides in holes and is barely surviving. The alternative is not pleasant.
When I first started getting back into board games in the early 1990's (which sounds like a very long time ago - sadly), I felt overwhelmed by the sheer number and variety of games available. The interweb was not up to speed yet in regards to selling games, so everything had to be purchased at the friendly local game store. Today, things are very different, but the doubts are all the same.
