Loot and Scoot Game Review

The life of an Adventurer is more or less focused on getting as much treasure as possible and then living long enough to enjoy it. The trouble is, most of the really good treasure is being horded by very aggressive and overly greedy monsters. Lucky for Adventurers, there is no shortage of dark and dangerous places to go explore and engage these monsters in combat. It’s all about getting rich quick or die trying, with emphasis on the dying which usually involves being eaten, smashed, burned, torn asunder, or carved. Remember, you don’t have to be the fastest when running away from a dragon, just not the slowest. Continue reading

Pathagon Game Review

It has been said that the shortest distance between any two points is a straight line. This is an incorrect statement in a non-Euclidean universe and in the game Pathagon. The shortest distance is exactly what each player is attempting, but with limited game board space, players must quickly find alternative routes and make constant adjustments. This is a game that depends on a player to act and react at the same time. As the paths are built and destroyed, it becomes clear that the only way to connect the two points is to bridge it with mind power. Continue reading

Baldrich’s Tomb Game Review

The old adventurer sitting at the inn table looks tired, worn, and beaten. He tries to smile, fails, and instead just looks at his mug of warm ale. He says there’s a treasure to be found that he will pay you to find. He’d get it himself, but he’s in no shape to do so and not as young as he once was. He’ll pay you up front and you are welcome to keep all the treasure you find along the way. When you ask him what the catch is, he mumbles something about a crumbling tomb, monsters, and a rampaging ghost. You shrug. A jobs a job and you could use the gold. Time to go make a living the hard way. Continue reading

Forsooth Role Playing Game Review

Shakespeare’s stories have survived centuries of cultural change and yet still remain relevant. It is a true testament to Shakespeare’s ability to write stories about our human nature that we continue to republish his work, create movies from his stories, and pay scholars to ponder his words. It was only a matter of time before geeks got their hands on his work and made it a game. Honestly, surprised it took this long. Continue reading
